Founded by key members of the legendary Downchild Blues Band, The Maple Blues Band has been the heart and soul of the Maple Blues Awards since its inception. It all started at a Toronto Blues Society meeting after the 1998 Maple Blues Awards when band leader Gary Kendall took on the challenge to elevate the music for the event. The result? A powerhouse band that has become a fixture in the blues community, known for its ability to masterfully play every style—from Delta Blues to Southside Chicago Blues, New Orleans Funk, Uptown Blues, Zydeco, Blues Rock, and most importantly, Canadian Blues.
Over the past 24 years, The Maple Blues Band has grown into a big band with an unmistakable sound, often referred to as 'Big Band Blues'. Their dedication to crafting original instrumental music has set them apart, and in 2022, they released their album "LET'S GO" under Cordova Bay Records—a culmination of years of collaboration and songwriting.
