CBC host Tom Allen presents his latest 'chamber musical,' narrating the journey of young Johann Sebastian Bach. At this point in his life, Bach hadn't yet started composing and was struggling in his first job, even getting into a street fight that nearly turned fatal. Seeking a break, he was granted four weeks but disappeared for four months.
Bach embarked on a 400 km journey north to a glittering port city, encountering a wise teacher. During this time, over Christmas, he might have found love. Upon his return, Bach transformed into the genius artist we continue to revere today.
